As part of the 3rd International Conference of the Hellenic Center of Excellence for the Cretan Lifestyle, held from October 29 to November 2, 2024, in Heraklion, Crete.

Youth Agri-Entrepreneurship Competition

Young entrepreneurs up to the age of 40 who had founded start-up companies in the agricultural sector were invited to apply. The competition was organized by Industry Disruptors, and applications were evaluated by Smart Agro Hub S.A. The top five (5) start-ups won the opportunity to present their ideas at the Innovation Symposium on the first day of the Conference.

The five winners were invited to the Conference with all expenses covered, where they had the opportunity to present their businesses to an audience of distinguished scientists and entrepreneurs. Additionally, they participated in one-on-one mentoring sessions with leading American, Greek-American, and Greek entrepreneurs specializing in agricultural development and the food industry.

About the Hellenic Center of Excellence for the Cretan Lifestyle:

The Hellenic Center of Excellence for the Cretan Lifestyle is a non-profit organization established in the United States, dedicated to addressing chronic diseases and environmental challenges stemming from the Western dietary model. Its mission is to promote and disseminate the traditional Greek/Cretan diet and lifestyle, which have proven health benefits as well as positive impacts on environmental sustainability.

In collaboration with Grecotel, Greece’s leading hotel chain, the Center aimed to create a hub for education, research, and innovation in the fields of well-being and agri-food development.

Based in the United States, the Hellenic Center of Excellence maintained a strong network of partners and advisors from top universities such as Harvard and Yale, along with world-renowned scientists specializing in health, nutrition, and business innovation.

The Center’s founder and director is Dr. Stefanos Kales, Professor of Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Professor/Director of the Occupational Medicine Program at Harvard School of Public Health.
